Charlotte's Original "Mom & Pop" Shop
I went to Mr. K's with a friend a couple of days ago. Growing up in Baltimore, I missed some of the old school lunch counter diners- and their awesome food. Mr. K's reminded me of those places that remind me of home- the food was excellent, and so was the service :) Thanks!!!!

As I was sitting waiting on my lunch today, it became clear to me that Mr. K's is much more than food. It's relationships, families, and acceptance. I saw Dads taking their sons out for a bonding burger. I saw old and young couples sharing their weeks over a table for two. I saw families inside and outside making an event out of a great meal at one of Charlotte's premiere landmarks.
When I married and moved to Charlotte from a very small town, the city seemed distant and combative. Then my new husband took me to Mr. K's and they greeted him by name. The next time we went in they greeted me by name. We've since closed them down talking with George after our dinner and just hanging out with the really great people who work there. Mr. K's is much more than food. It's a service to the city of Charlotte as an ambassador to those who don't yet understand "city talk" and an old friend to those who need a warm hearth on a cold day in their lives. THANKS!

Im a 15 year old boy and I live in Colorado, which may sound weird as to why Im visiting Charlotte, but anytime my family and I are out visiting my aunt in Charlotte we make sure to eat at least once during our trip at Mr. K’s Soft Ice Cream Restaurant! Anyways, I wanted to email you guys today to tell you how wonderful your restaurant is in regards to service, friendliness of the workers, the AWESOME food, and how reasonably priced the food is! I don’t think I can find a better restaurant on this planet that is even near comparable to that of Mr. K’s Ice Cream!!!!! I cant stop the compliments yet cause I haven’t hit the best part which is the food, so therefore my favorite menu items include your: Double Big K with Cheese Burger, Cheeseburger, Garden Burger, Corn Dog, Grilled Chicken Salad, Chicken Tenders Salad, Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Wrap, and ALL of Your Milkshakes, Sundaes and Parfaits, its just too hard to narrow it down to even three or four of my favorites I love them ALL SO MMMUUUCCCCCHHHHHH!!!!! Keep up the EXCELLENT work and know that you will continue to be on our list for everytime we take a vacation out to Charlotte! Along with this, I wanted to email you to ask you for a request in regards to a collection that I have. I have been collecting baseball caps from restaurants, stores, malls, vacation places, and anywhere else you can think of for the past 17 years and I wanted to email you to see if I can add a Mr. K’s Soft Ice Cream ball cap to my collection? If you could please contact me back via email and let me know what you can do for me in regards to my collection that would be greatly AWESOME!!!!! Thank you so much for your help, keep up the EXCELLENT work, and know that I am definitely your number one fan!!!!!
Thanks again,
Chris "

"We got to Charlotte in 1989-just before Hugo. My wife is a native so coming back to Mr. K's was like a homecoming to her. It's nice to walk in the door & get greeted by name-always get the best service & the Greatest Food! There's lots more places to eat around but there is only One Mr. K's-which is why we drive by all the others to eat there. Thanks !!"

In response to our question of your favorite item on our menu.
"By far, the Big K burger the dipped cone, onion rings (homemade) and, of course that iced tea and crushed ice! And the hot dogs are great too! Awesome!
Can't stop at one!
